Council Crews Continue Clean-Up Across Limerick Following Storm Barra
Crews from Limerick City and County Council have been working from first light this morning as the clean-up following Storm Barra gathers pace.
The ORANGE Wind Warning for Limerick ended at 6am this morning. While winds of up to 130km/h were recorded, there have been no reports of any serious damage, while high tide last evening (07 Dec 2021) passed without incident.
Crews across all the Council districts have been working since this morning on the clean-up operation.
The majority of incidents are to do with fallen trees/ branches.
Most areas around the city and county were affected by the storm with reports of trees/ branches down in Glin, Abbeyfeale, Athea, Templeglantine, Ardrine, Dooally, Ballinabearne, Monagea, Newcastle West, Lough Gur, Bruff, Oola, Bohercoyle, Kildimo, Adare, Condell Road, Sarsfield Bridge, Knocklong, Askeaton, Loughill, Cappamore, Rathkeale, Shanagolden, Ballingarry, Crecora, Galbally, Kilcornan, Patrickswell, Carrigkerry.
ESB Crews have been working at an incident on Mill Road, Corbally, where trees were on the electricity wires.
A section of the Square in Newcastle West had to be closed off at the height of the storm due to falling roof slates.
Crews are working their way through the incidents that have been reported.
According to ESB Powercheck there are a number of areas in Limerick where customers are without electricity, including around Glin, Askeaton, Shanagolden, Newcastle West, Bruree and Pallasgreen.
