A parents group has hit out at a school which says students will be sent home if they're not wearing the correct uniform.
SPARK Ireland, which supports single parents, says a note was sent out by a school.
It says flat black shoes must be worn as well as the full uniform, including a jacket.
The note adds that the school understands the challenges this presents, given that shops have been closed.
Parenting expert and author Jen Hogan says she's surprised to see the note.
That's as many schools are being flexible during the pandemic:
"It has been widely reported how difficult it is to get pieces of the uniform."
She says even if you order online, a lot of sizes are out of stock.
This is because many kids have been out of school for so long that Jen says, "everyone is looking for uniforms at the same time."
So she says kids have also grown over the course of the pandemic.
Adding to that "shoes continue to be a huge issue," Jen says.
