The cold snap is set to continue this weekend with Met Eireann Predicting lows of-5 degrees for parts of the South West.
Looking at today Met Eireann Predicts the weather will be:
''Cold with frost, ice and some lying snow to begin. It will then be a mostly dry day with good sunshine and just the small chance of an isolated wintry flurry. Highest temperatures of just 1 to 4 degrees in moderate to fresh northerly winds.''
Ice and frost re-forming quickly after dark with a severe frost expected. Staying dry with long clear spells as temperatures fall to between -2 and -5 degrees in mostly light northwest breezes.''
Looking at tomorrow Met Eireann has predicted
''Ice and frost will gradually clear on Saturday morning to leave a mix of bright spells and occasional showers with light to moderate west to northwest breezes. Highest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees.''
Saturday night:
''Another cold and frosty night with icy stretches on untreated surfaces. Dry for much of the night but cloud will build from the west later and patchy rain will move in from the Atlantic to affect western counties. The rain will spread eastwards, reaching the east coast by around dawn and may be preceded by snow in places. Lowest temperatures of zero to -3 degrees in moderate southwest breezes.''
And looking at Sunday Met Eireann says:
''Patchy rain and sleet will clear eastwards on Sunday morning to leave sunny spells during the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in moderate southwest winds. A spell of rain will move in from the Atlantic overnight accompanied by strengthening southerly winds. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees.''
And it looks like the cold snap is set to stay with us next week with temperatures set reach a low of -2 degrees on Monday Night.
