The boundary between Clare and Limerick is causing fresh controversy.
It is because of Clare County Council's intention to build a Strategic Development Zone close to the University of Limerick.
It would be a type of University town and create more than 3,000 jobs over the next decade.
Critics of the plan say people in the area consider themselves to be from Limerick and not Clare.
But Councillor for East Clare Cathal Crowe is in favour of the move:
"I learnt a lovely word when I was doing Junior Cert science, Symbiotic Relationship, one depending on the other it works like that."
