The defender wasn't punished for his aggressive tackle on Southampton's Shane Long on Saturday afternoon, however, the FA re-evaluated the incident on Tuesday.
Alonso will now face a three-match ban, including an FA Cup semi-final, and has until 6 pm on Wednesday to respond to the charges.
Pretty upset that Marcos Alonso has been charged with violent conduct which was expected. Three-game ban the standard punishment. He has until 6pm tomorrow to respond. There’s been many challenges against our players in the past that have been worse but no bans #CFC

With Alonso set to serve a three match ban, Emerson should finally get his opportunity. Looking forward to seeing him play. Remember that he was considered the 2nd best LB in the Serie A with some unreal stats.

Alonso’s 'stamp‘ was poor, but we’ve seen worse challenges recently that went unpunished, even after the FA reviewed them. Strange.
