There are fresh calls in the Dáil for the Russian ambassador to be expelled from Ireland.
The Government has said some political ties to Moscow need to be kept to help Irish citizens in Russia.
But opposition parties have argued there is no point in keeping an ambassador who lies about his country's intentions.
Tánaiste Leo Varadkar says they want to avoid a reciprocal expulsion of Irish diplomats in Moscow.
Many people are also concerned that expelling all registered officials in the Russian Embassy would be doing away with diplomacy.
The Russian Embassy has come under much scrutiny of late as it has 31 registered employees working in the facility which is much larger than their employee count in France, Germany and Britain.
There are suspicions that the embassy site on Orwell road in Dublin is used as a staging point for espionage and intelligence gathering.
