Shortages of blood are expected in Irish hospitals over the Christmas period.
With 200 patients needing transfusions every single day, people are being asked to attend extra clinics to ensure supplies are maintained going into the new year.
The Irish Blood Transfusion Service is running an extra 23 clinics between Sunday 16th December and Sunday 6th January, to make sure there is enough blood for patients over the festive period.
