The government has signed off on the referendum bill to allow a vote on the 8th amendment.
Ministers signed off on the bill in the last hour.
It now needs to be approved by the Dáil and Seanad before a date is fixed for the referendum.
The Dáil is due to sit tomorrow to begin debating the abortion bill.
