It's believed all three are brothers.
Emergency services were notified of the horrific incident last night.
The alarm was raised when the daughter of one of the victims contacted Gardaí to say that her father had been killed.
Gardaí believe the two men were killed before the suspect fled in a van belonging to one of the victims.
The van was discovered abandoned this afternoon at a church at Killacluig just northwest of Mitchelstown.
The body of the third man was discovered in a river in a remote location not far from there.
