People in Ireland are being invited to become virtual housemates in the upcoming interactive Big Brother mobile game.

Before being launched worldwide later this year, the app is being released in Ireland only on the 28th of May and will run into the middle of July.

A development studio in Galway has teamed up with Endemol to produce the virtual game.

It's a collaboration between Endemol (who did create Big Brother the TV show) and 9th impact which is a development studio.

It'll be the world's first globally interactive 'Big Brother' mobile game.

Known as 'Big Brother: The Game', it'll be available worldwide eventually for Apple and Android devices.

There's a prize fund and anyone anywhere can win what's being called 'the world's first online multi-player reality TV show'

Players can become virtual housemates, experiencing life as a "Big Brother" contestant.

They must make strategic choices in order to remain in the house and ultimately become victorious.

The skill of the game is social, psychological and also interpersonal.

This is how a character might look

Head of Development at 9th Impact, Dr. Finn Krewer, said:

“Our approach to designing this game was to think of a person’s mobile device as their portal into a massive online Big Brother season."

"The player will face competitions, chores, nominations, evictions and have to navigate all the same complex social relationships and intrigue that make the TV show so compelling.”

It will be exactly like a season of Big Brother-and will have two modes, housemate and spectator and the spectator mode is free with optional purchases.

To become a housemate, the player must complete an in-app purchase.

You'll be able to move your character around, and also have to do things like complete tasks and do chores etc.

There's different tiers and the winners from houses will advance to the final house which will have 10 people.

The winner gets €5,000 and it'll also launch globally in August and run into 2021.

The app is being released in Ireland on the 28th of May.
