Ant McPartlin appeared in court this afternoon where he pleaded guilty to a drink driving offence at Wimbledon Magistrates Court.
The hearing was due to take place on April 4th but had been adjourned until today.
The court heard that McPartlin had been seeking help for “alcohol and emotional issues” at the time of the crash in Richmond, west London, on March 18.
McPartlin’s barrister Liam Walker said his client;
“Anthony McPartlin is sorry and is doing everything he can to ensure this never happens again,”
He continued;
“He hopes that in time he can make himself better and that he might be forgiven by all of the many people he knows and he feels he has let down terribly.”
The court heard that in a statement to police McPartlin said;
“I am very sorry I did this. I am ashamed and mortified that this happened.
“I accept full culpability for this and wish to apologise to all those concerned.”
According to Sky News the Judge has considered his weekly income of £130,000 to decide his fine.
Ant is to face a £86,000 fine, £85 prosecution fee and £170 surcharge.
Ant has been banned from driving for 20 months.
He has requested to do a drink driving course which would reduce it to 15 months.
