It has been revealed that 78% of us want to receive flowers for Valentine's Day, but red roses aren't high on the list of desired presents.
A new survey from Scarecrow Flowers shows that two-thirds of respondents said that they would prefer to receive an alternative or mixed bouquet of flowers from their Valentine.
Tradition appears to be strong this year as flowers are the clear favourite, with lingerie (12%) and chocolates (10%) completing the top three gifts.
Other interesting findings from the research were:
- 8% said that their Valentine’s Day planning started the month before
- 40% the week before, 26% started the day before
- 27% admitted they do no planning until Valentine’s Day
- 71% said that they would not make a marriage proposal on Valentine’s Day
