Aviation Authority Say Passenger Testing Is Needed

The Irish Aviation Authority has called for testing of passengers at airports in order to let international travel resume.

The group warned the aviation sector across Europe is going to lose 140 billion euro this year.

The IAA said meaningful levels of air travel can't return until there's an effective testing system in place.

Paul Brandon, Head of Corporate Affairs with the IAA, says the EU as a whole needs to change its system.

He said he wants an "EU wide system that replaces quarantine measures."

He warned that without it, it may be 2024 or 2025 before things return to normal for the sector.

The IAA are calling for passengers to be tested a day before they travel but say even with that the responsibility  "is still on passengers to behave responsibly."
