Assessment For 8 Week Astra Zeneca Gap
Meanwhile, the HSE is assessing whether it's possible to further reduce the Astra Zeneca gap.
It has only just managed to implement a recommendation made in April to reduce the gap from 16 weeks to 12.
The National Immunisation Advisory Committee has now recommended the second dose of AstraZeneca being administered 8 to 12 weeks after the first dose.
HSE CEO Paul Reid says modelling work is under way.
"We're now assessing that correspondence."
He says the Health Service is checking out how that would work.
"We'll be working through that in the coming days."
He says he's working to get supply numbers.
"Because the key to this is confirmation of supply from Astra Zeneca."
