4 out of 10 homeless people have been sexually assaulted, according to a new report.
However many victims didn't report the crime out of fear and a belief that they wouldn't be listened to.
Over Half Were Sexually Harassed
100 homeless adults were interviewed for this research project aimed at highlighting the reality of homelessness in Dublin.
The report uncovered that 40% of homeless people have been sexually assaulted while homeless.
Additionally, 57% have been sexually harassed, mainly within homeless services.
William Cummings from the Babs Empowerment Project says some of the experiences shared we're upsetting to hear.
"He was raped by another man, who said he wasn't gay."
Adding to that, William says, "he was just doing it to teach him a lesson."
"He's now terrified in his bed every night, that someone else might teach him a lesson."

They Don't Report The Crimes
Anthony Flynn from Inner City Helping Homelessness says many don't report the crimes.
"Many feel they might lose their bed if they report an issue."
"Whether it's about sexual assault or about their rights being violated while in homeless services."
Over 80% of people have experienced physical violence and bullying or intimidation while homeless.
Most interviewees said their mental health has deteriorated due to their experiences in homelessness.
