2020 was the year wedding plans for thousands of Irish couples were thrown into doubt.
That was while Covid restrictions impacted on the ability of people to gather and venues to host ceremonies.
CSO figures released today reflect that.
It's recorded just over 9,500 marriages from 2020, including 314 same sex couples.
That's down 53% on the previous year.
The average age for those getting married rose last year , for a groom is was 35.7 years and a bride 37.8 years.
For same sex couples the age was 40.
Friday was the most popular day for a wedding.
While December was the most popular month for opposite sex couples.
Finally, February was more popular for same sex couples.
Once again reflecting the impact of Covid restrictions at different times last year.
