WATCH: Pixar Release Full Trailer For Buzz Lightyear Origin Story 'Lightyear'

Pixar have released the trailer for their new Buzz Lightyear origin story Lightyear and it looks so good.

The film, which sees Buzz take on Emperor Zurg, drops in cinemas June 17th.

Lightyear is the origin story of Buzz Lightyear and it follows him on an intergalactic adventure.

The trailer opens with Buzz gearing up for his next mission.

"After a full year of being marooned on this planet, our first test flight is a go."

As the trailer moves on, we watch as Buzz meets his robot companion Sox, and takes on Emperor Zurg.

"We're being pursued by a... just a massive robot!" The Space Ranger shouts as he attempts to escape Zurg.

The new movie is directed by Angus MacLane, who admitted, 'Buzz’s world was always something I was excited about.'

'In Toy Story, there seemed to be this incredible backstory to him being a Space Ranger that’s only touched upon, and I always wanted to explore that world further.'

'So my Lighytear pitch was, 'What was the movie that Andy saw that made him want a Buzz Lightyear toy?''

'I wanted to see that movie. And now I’m lucky enough to get to make it,' he said.

Chris Evans is the voice of Buzz, while Keke Palmer, Dale Soules and Taika Waititi make up his group of ambitious recruits.

And Peter Sohn voices Buzz’s robot companion, Sox

'The cast for Lightyear is truly a dream team,' said Angus.
