The news was announced at Sony's CinemaCon presentation, where the new Fab Four joined Sam on stage and took their bow, Beatles style.

Quoting Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, they stood in a line and told the Las Vegas audience: “It’s wonderful to be here, it’s certainly a thrill, you’re such a lovely audience, we’d like to take you home with us.”

The films will all be released in the same month and will fall under a project Sam is calling The Beatles: A Four-Film Cinematic Event.

The Skyfall director spoke at the event in America and said filming all four movies would take him over a year to complete. He's yet to confirm the order in which they'll be released.

A long time coming, Sam explained: “I had been trying to do a film for years, but I finally gave up [because the] story was too big for one film.

Joseph posted the news to his Instagram Story

“There had to be a way to tell the epic story for a new generation … I can assure you there is still plenty left to explore and I think we found a way to do that.”

Before the official announcement, rumours about who would star as the Fab Four were rife, with some of the chosen ones already tipped by the band members themselves.

Ringo had hinted Barry had been cast to play him while director Sir Ridley Scott let slip Paul would be part of the films. Both Harris and Jospeh had been linked to the projects in the past.
