Chris Mason has joined the cast as Veronica Lodge's Wall Street husband.
The actor will play Chad Gekko, described by Deadline as a, 'controlling and jealous,' character.
This means Archie and Veronica call it quits at some point.

In fairness though, after his antics with Betty, we kind of saw this one coming.
As quoted by Deadline, 'Chad is threatened by Veronica’s life in Riverdale, especially her friendship with Archie.'
Oooh... So perhaps there is still hope of a Varchie reunion...

Chris' character will be introduced during the season's highly anticipated seven year time jump.
The outlet say this will take place during episode four of the new season.

Back to Chris - he shared his excitement over the casting on Instagram, and hinted that his character isn't the nicest person.
