Love Island Contracts Reveal Islanders Will Face 'Mental Pressure'

ITV bosses have released a 27 page Love Island contract that Islanders must sign before entering the villa.

In the documents, they highlight the 'potential downsides' and 'mental pressure' that comes with appearing on the show.

According to MailOnline, they were asked to produce the documents before the Commons culture select committee’s inquiry into reality TV.

It follows concerns over the shows aftercare system after the death of two former islanders.

Mike Thalassitis and Sophie Gradon took their own lives following a stint on the show.

No guarantee of fame

According to the publication, contestants are warned in their contracts that there is, ‘no guarantees of fame.'

They're told that the public can quickly loses interest in them when the show comes to an end.

'This is a dating show where the main goal is to find love.'

Contestants are also warned of the 'mental pressure' they'll face on the series.

They're asked to disclose any 'mental or psychological' health issues they have.

If they fail to fully disclose this information, 'they waive any rights to bring a claim against [the show] or claim damages...'

'based upon condition following your departure as a contestant from the main show.'

Potential downsides

It's reported the documents also include a list of 'potential downsides' that come with appearing on the reality series.

'You may find yourself in the public spotlight in ways that you didn’t anticipate, including press interest and negative comments on social media.'

'Your family and friends, as well as your past actions, may also become the subject of negative press attention.'
