It’s awards season in film and to celebrate, Omniplex are rolling out the red carpet for some more movie greats as #BringItBack continues with some very special screenings for their Oscar Worthy Modern Classics Series. Featuring films such as The Lion King, Thelma & Louise and Avatar, this series offers something for everyone in an eclectic mix that shares a common theme as some of the industry’s most celebrated, backed by a roll call of awards, accolades and nominations.
#BringItBack Oscar Worthy Modern Classics begin with the 1994 animated epic musical and perennial favourite, The Lion King, (February 17th to 19th) which, through an all-star voiceover cast, tells the circle of life story of Simba the young lion who flees into exile following the death of his father Mufasa before re-claiming his rightful place as King of the Pride. The film was praised by critics for its music, story and animation, gaining two Academy Awards and a Golden Globe while initiating the Broadway adaptation, a sequel, prequel, television series and a 3D re-release in 2011.
Superhero fans can take to the movies the following week (February 24th to 26th) for The Dark Knight, the second part of The Dark Knight Trilogy staring Christian Bale as Batman/Bruce Wayne and the late Heath Ledger, who was posthumously awarded an Oscar for his performance in the film. Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, The Dark Knight sees Batman head up an alliance to attempt to dismantle organised crime in Gotham City, all the while undermined by the Joker, played by Ledger, as he creates chaos across Gotham City.
Speaking about the #BringItBack season, Marketing & Loyalty Manager, Shauna Crawley, said
“We’re delighted to be able to bring back some of our customer’s favourites to the big screen. The wonderful thing about a special movie is that it can transport you back to the first time you saw it – whether that’s your first date with your now wife or husband or the one where you and your friends laughed so hard you cried! We’re hoping to help our customers relive these memories through each of these movie classics at Omniplex”.
