A Futurama revival is in the works but it looks like John DiMaggio won't be back.

He voiced the robot Bender in the series which ran for seven seasons.

John was approached to return for the 20-episode revival, along with the original voice actors for characters like Leela and Fry.

Although producers say the contract offered to him was in line with the rest of the cast, John turned it down as it wasn't competitive enough.

He called it a matter of "self-respect."

"I don't think that only I deserve to be paid more. I think the entire cast does," John wrote in a statement on Twitter.

According to Deadline, John felt the proposed contract didn't take Futurama's popularity and success into consideration.

John went on to reassure fans that he still cares about the show, saying "Bender is a part of my soul.

"Nothing about this is meant to be disrespectful to the fans or my Futurama family."

He ended by saying he's "still hoping for the best," but only time will tell if he and the producers can agree on a deal.

The new episodes are due to Disney+ next year.
