Release Date
Big Little Lies season 2 will return to our TVs this summer
HBO have yet to announce an official release date.
However, Nicole Kidman and new cast member Douglas Smith revealed on Instagram that the show will premiere in June.
Cast
You may know Douglas Smith from the movie Miss Slone or Netflix's The Alienist.
Also new to the show is Meryl Streep, who's casting was revealed last January.
She plays Mary Louise Wright, mother of Perry (Alexander Skarsgard) and mother-in-law to Celeste.
Shortly after that news broke, HBO revealed that all the main female characters will be back.
That means we'll see Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, Zoë Kravitz and Reese Witherspoon reprise their roles.

We don't have a trailer just yet, but we do have a very interesting three-second clip.
HBO released a look at their 2019 drama offerings on 24th February.
The video showcases lots of exciting shows on the way and at 01:12 a first look at Big Little Lies season 2.
We see Meryl Streep question Nicole Kidman's Celeste about her son.
We then see a shocked Madeline (Reese Witherspoon), a tearful Celeste, a contemplative Jane (Shailene Woodley), and a worried looking Bonnie (Zoe Kravitz) running through the woods.
Plot
While HBO are remaining tight lipped about the plot we do know some things.
Meryl Streep will play the mother of the presumably dead Perry Wright.
In season 2 she's coming to town looking for answers about her son.
In a very short clip we see her demand, 'I want to know what happened that night'.

However, it's unclear whether she knows Perry has died or if the five women have covered up the murder.
She's also Celeste's mother-in-law and if the promo photo is anything to go by, she will be spending time with her grandchildren.
This is going to put Celeste in a tricky situation as she knows exactly what happened to Perry.
To make matters worse Meryl and Reese Witherspoon's Madeline do not get along.
We know this thanks to a leaked image from the set.

Of season 2 HBO revealed, 'The darkly comedic drama will continue to explore the malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the vicious ferocity of sound parenting.'
'Multiple characters will be dealing with Perry’s death, and the prospect of moving past a life-altering event.'
In an Instagram post on the HBO account we see Madeline, Jane, Bonnie, Celeste and Renata in a police line up.
Let's just presume it's going to be a seriously stressful season for our five faves.
What else do I need to know?
Big Little Lies season 1 was based on a book.
However, season 2 will feature an entirely new story cooked up by HBO writers.
Filming rapped in August, so lets hope we're getting an official trailer soon!
