Donald Faison joins live action Powerpuff Girls
Scrubs actor Donald Faison has joined the cast of the upcoming Powerpuff Girls reboot.
He announced the news on Instagram last night, 'I’m so excited!'

Faison will play Professor Drake Utonium - the scientific genius who created the Powerpuff Girls in his lab.
However, a lot has changed over the years, and according to Deadline, the girls are now, 'disillusioned twentysomethings.'
They find themselves resenting the fact that they, 'lost their childhood to crime fighting.'
Meanwhile, the professor is, 'staring down a midlife crisis.'
He sets off on a mission to repair his damaged relationship with Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup.
'Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?'

The original show
The series is called Powerpuff, and it's a live action reboot of the original Cartoon Network show which ran from 1998 to 2005.
It follows three young girls named Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup.
They use their superpowers to protect the people of Townsville from evil villains.
A reboot of the original animated series premiered on Cartoon Network in 2016.
However, they used completely different voice actors for the main roles.
They only wrapped up its third season in 2019.
