Angela's fans have jumped to her defense, with one pointing out that she has every right to be upset.
'Just because she’s an actor doesn’t mean she always has to act. We can be disappointed for Angela Bassett & happy for JLC, those 2 things can exist.'

Fans also pointed out how Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors subtly paid tribute to Bassett on stage after the fact.
Jordan said, "Hey, Auntie," and Jonathan added, "We love you," when they stepped on stage to present an award.

This Oscar nomination marks Bassett's second.
Her first was all the way back in 1994 when she was nominated for Best Actress for her role in What's Love Got To Do With It.
