The Glee actor has died aged 35 by 'apparent suicide'.
He was awaiting sentencing after he plead guilty to possession of child pornography last December.
US media reported that the children featured in the 50,000 images found in the actor's possession were between three and five years of age.
The actor, who played Noah 'Puck' Puckerman on the hit Fox show, struck a plea deal in the case in October.
Under the deal, prosecutors agreed that the appropriate sentence for Salling would be four to seven years in prison, with 20 years of supervised release, according to US reports.
