Zendaya discusses age gap controversy
Zendaya has addressed the controversy surrounding the age gap between her and John David Washington.
The pair play on screen lovers in the upcoming Sam Levinson movie Malcolm & Marie.
Some people think the age gap between the 24-year-old and the 36-year-old is far too big.
And Zendaya believes this fixation stems from the fact that she's played a 16-year-old on screen since she was 16.
She spoke about it in more detail during an interview on E!'s Daily Pop.

Zendaya said, "You have to remember, also, people grew up with me as a child."
"It's like watching, I guess, your younger sibling now, you know, they're grown..."
"So it's hard for people to wrap around the idea that I am grown in real life."
Referring to her Euphoria character, she said, "You know, even though I do play a teenager on television still."
What John David Washington thinks
Speaking to Variety earlier this month, John David said he wasn't concerned about the criticism.
He explained, 'because she is a woman.'

'People are going to see in this film how much of a woman she is.'
The actor pointed out, 'She has far more experience than I do in the industry. I’ve only been in it for seven years.'
'She’s been in it longer, so I’m learning from her. I’m the rookie,' John David admitted.

The 36-year-old insists people will see how grown she is when they watch the movie.
'What I’m really excited for people to see when the film is released – they’re going to see how mature she is in this role.'
'We’re talking about versatility, and Sam and Zendaya brought both.'
Malcolm & Marie drops on Netflix February 5th.
