Zac Efron Is Bringing Back His High School Musical Hairstyle

We never thought we'd see the day.

Zac Efron became a celebrity overnight with the success of High School Musical, and now he's bringing the era's famous hairstyle back.

He was spotted filming a new project in Los Angeles with longer side swept locks, similar to the style Zac sported in all three High School Musical films.

But the new film is a far cry from the franchise that launched his career. Titled Famous, the upcoming thriller is based on a novel by Blake Crouch. In it, Zac has not one but two parts.

What is Zac's role?

Zac will play a famous actor named James Jansen and also a 'world-class loser' named Lance Dunkquist. When Lance realises he looks exactly like James, he heads to Hollywood to see if he can make it as an actor too.

The film will be 'part comedy, part human tragedy and part suspense.'

The new role comes only three months after Zac was hospitalised. His representative called it a 'precautionary measure' after a 'minor' incident.

According to TMZ, Zac dove into a swimming pool and hit the bottom of the pool on a Friday evening. A source claimed that two people working at the villa 'pulled him out of the water.'

Zac was released the following morning from the hospital. On the Sunday, he posted a photo on Instastories of himself lifting weights, captioned 'happy and healthy - thanks for the well wishes.'

Do we know anything else about the film?

Zac isn't the only famous face appearing in the upcoming thriller either.

Bridgerton's Phoebe Dynevor will have a role to play. While we don't know what role she'll play in the story, it's great timing for the pair to team up.

Both have had some of the best reviews of their careers on recent projects. Zac took on the emotional role of a wrestler in the biographical film, The Iron Claw.

Meanwhile, Phoebe received praise for her part in Fair Play, a thriller that premiered at Sundance 2023 and was quickly sold to Netflix.
