Taylor pulled out of the festival due to 'Scheduling issues'
Taylor Swift pulled out of her scheduled performance at the Melbourne Cup in Australia.
Taylor was due to perform at the horse racing festival but received plenty of criticism from fans and celebrities about the decision.
This comes after it was reported that 6 horses died during the festival in 2013.
Yo @taylorswift13 ! You have to cancel your Melbourne Cup show! By peforming an event like this publically says that you day YES to animal abuse. It's showing your fans and young people all over the world that this kind of behaviour is acceptable #nuptothecup

@taylorswift13 I think you should reconsider promoting such a disgusting, cruel and immoral race! The Melbourne cup should be banned. Do some research into how many horses die from it. That might change your mind.

A spokesperson for Taylor has now released a statement stating that Taylor is no longer able to make it to this year’s Melbourne Cup and Changes to her Asian promo schedule have made it logistically impossible for her to be here. To all of Taylor’s fans, we hope to see Taylor in Australia in 2020.
Taylor herself has yet to comment on the backlash.
