Selling Sunset's Mary and Romain
It turns out Selling Sunset's Mary Fitzgerald and Romain Bonnet were already married before filming on season one began.
A representative for the real estate agent confirmed the news this week.
The couple's relationship played a huge part in the first two installments of the show.
He popped the question in season one, and their big day was documented in season two.
However, it turns out they actually wed in secret a couple months prior to filming season one.
Her representative explained the situation to People Magazine:
'Mary and Romain had a civil union a couple of months before the show began filming in June of 2018.'
'But they chose not to tell any of their friends or family, as they were still trying to see if their relationship would work out in the long term.'
The rep added, 'In their minds, they weren’t properly married until the wedding that was filmed during the show.'
According to TMZ, their secret wedding took place at the Ventura County Courthouse on March 9th 2018.
The Selling Sunset wedding
Romain and Mary's documented wedding took place October 12th 2019 at a private home in L.A.
At the time, Mary told People, 'It was our dream wedding.'
'Neither of us are big, showy kind of people, and we just wanted the people closest to us, where it just felt sincere and comfortable. So that's what we did.'
Mary admitted they were hesitant about having their big day documented for Selling Sunset.
She explained, 'We wanted to keep it very intimate and have our families as a big focus.'
'And you never know when we get the cast there with all the cameras, if our families were going to feel comfortable, if there was to be some dramatic fighting with the girls.'
