Sam Thompson talks Zara McDermott
Sam Thompson has spoken out for the first time since it was reported he's taken Zara McDermott back.
The pair called it quits earlier this year after it was revealed she cheated on him a year ago.
Their whole breakup aired on the latest season of Made in Chelsea.
Speaking to MailOnline, he said, 'I believe in forgiveness.'
'I understand the context – and I think in any walk of life you can't move forward unless you forgive.'
'Forgiveness allows you to heal.'
He continued, 'You can only heal when you forgive the other person and get over that.'
'I would definitely say no matter what you should always try to forgive and you'll feel better in yourself.'
'It's f***ing easier said than done but you've got to strive for that.'
Sam added, 'The people I care about caring about me will know we're all human.'
'We are all human and you can't grow and evolve and be a better person without making mistakes along the way.'
'For that to be shown on TV, it almost humanises you and makes you more relatable.'
Sam's mistakes
Reflecting on his own past mistakes, Sam said, 'I have had a lot of f*** ups in my own life.'
'Being on TV, it accelerates your personal growth because of how many people do watch and everything you do gets so many opinions and you get so much feedback.'
'It does shape you as a person.'
The reality star said, 'I hate people who are on TV and literally have the best publicist in the world and people believe they're angels.'
'Oh come on! We all have bad moments, we all have f*** ups.'
'We all make mistakes,' Sam added.
He continued, 'I am actually the person who's made a mistake and come back stronger and have gone through everything.'
'I can't stand people that think they're perfect because they're not – they're not showing their true self.'
The breakup
Sam and Zara split up earlier this year after he found out she cheated a year ago during her time with The X Factor.
Their split aired on Made in Chelsea, and a reconciliation really didn't look likely.
In scenes from the show, she begged for forgiveness, but he could see no way of getting past this betrayal.
He told her, "Zara look, I'm the first person to hold my hand up and say I've done some fu**ed up sh*t, but I've never done anything like that."
"The seediness of consistently sha**ing when you're calling me to tell me you can't come home, when the rest of your band are at home in bed with their other halves," he continued.
"So they all leave the studio to enjoy that and make that last."
Zara agreed when he told her, "That is not the person I know."
She broke down crying, "I hate myself so much."
Sam told her he couldn't be with her because he couldn't possibly trust her after this.
Ever since, Zara's been professing her love for him online in the hopes he'll change his mind.
she shared a video montage of their memories together, addressing it, 'TO THE LOVE OF MY LIFE...'
'There aren’t enough words to describe how I feel about you. You are my favourite person, my truest love.'
Zara hasn't commented.
