Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have shared the first up close picture of baby Archie on Instagram.

The picture was posted on the official Sussex Royal account.

The happy couple welcomed their baby boy into the world last month.

He weighed 7lbs 3oz (3.2kg) and a besotted Harry confirmed the news to the press shortly after the birth.

He said of the experience, "It was amazing, absolutely incredible, and, as I said, I'm so incredibly proud of my wife."

"Every father and parent will say, you know, your baby is absolutely amazing, but this little thing is absolutely to-die-for, so I'm just over the moon."

This afternoon, His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex shared the news of the arrival of his and the Duchess’ first born child. Their son was born early morning on the 6th of May, 2019 and weighs 7lbs and 3oz. Their Royal Highnesses thank you for your support and kindness during this exceptionally joyful time in their lives as they welcome their baby boy.

The parents attended a photo-call at Windsor Castle later that week.

Here, they showed off the latest member of the royal family to the world for the very first time.

Meghan stood next to her husband of whom held their child with a big smile on his face.
