Love Island Announce Show's First Ever Contestant With Physical Disability

Hugo Hammond will become the first contestant with a physical disability to enter the Love Island villa.

The PE teacher was announced today as part of this year's contestant lineup.

The 24-year-old was born with club foot.

As quoted by The Sun, he explained his condition, 'I was born with clubfoot. I had lots of operations when I was a kid.'

'You can only really tell when I walk barefoot.'

'I’ve got a really short achilles heel. I walk slightly on my tip toes,' he revealed.

Not only is he a PE teacher, but he's also played cricket for England PD (Physical Disability).

'I’ve been to Bangladesh, Dubai, I’ve been everywhere to play cricket.'

Hugo is a secondary school PE teacher who, 'absolutely [loves his] job.'

'I love all my sports. It’s great to be able to pass on that enthusiasm to be physically active to the younger generation.'

'And hopefully they feel the same about me teaching them.'

Other contestants announced are Scottish lady Shannon, Nando's waitress Liberty, events host Aaron, and Miss International U.K 2018 Sharon.
