Jess Glynne faces backlash

Singer Jess Glynne has been facing serious backlash for slamming a London restaurant on Instagram.

The artist claims she and her friend were refused entry based on the clothes they were wearing.

Many have taken to social media, branding Jess, 'privileged,' for thinking she's above the dress code.

Jess shared a picture of herself in a hoodie and sneakers on Instagram.

She captioned the post, 'Dear @sexyfishlondon I turned up to your restaurant looking like this and you looked me and my friend up and down and said no you can’t come in and your restaurant was EMPTY.'

'I then went to @amazonicolondon who greeted me and my friend with pure joy and we had a banging meal with wicked service.'

She continued, '@sexyfishlondon please check yourself if this is how you treat people cause it’s rude, off putting, embarrassing and most definitely not inviting.'

'We were made to wait and 2 members of staff came to look at us and make a decision based on our appearance.'

'I think the attitude of your staff needs to change as that was pure discrimination. Thanks and bye'

The response

While many took to the comments section to comfort her, there were also plenty who disagreed with her.

Taking to Twitter, one user wrote, 'If anyone asks what privilege is, I’m just going to point them to Jess Glynne complaining she’s been discriminated against because she can’t wear a hoodie while eating £300 sushi in Mayfair.'

While another tweeted, 'This is everything wrong with celeb culture.'

'Jess Glynne, who have been lecturing us on privilege for the last month, is claiming she has been “discriminated” against because she wasn’t allowed to dine in a restaurant, which has a clear dress code, wearing a HOODIE. I give up.'

Some social media users have been making light of the situation.

One Twitter user shared a clip of Meryl Streep's character Miranda in The Devil Wears Prada.

They captioned the clip, 'The Sexy Fish door staff when Jess Glynne turned up'

Jess hasn't made any further comment.
