Jeremy McConnell has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting the mother of his child Stephanie Davis.
McConnell was held by officers after flying back to Liverpool to help them with their investigation into the alleged assault.
It is not known whether their young son was at the address when the alleged incident took place.
A spokesperson for the force said in a statement: "Following a report of an assault at an address in Rainhill, a man has this morning (Thursday, 16 March) been arrested.
"A 27-year-old man from Liverpool city centre has been arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage after voluntarily attending a police station on Merseyside. He remains in police custody for questioning."
A police spokesperson previously told Mirror Online: "Merseyside Police can confirm a report was received of an assault at a property on Thursday 9 March.
"Officers were contacted on Sunday 12 March and an investigation into the incident is on-going."
Previously, a rep for Jeremy had told Mirror Online: "Jeremy denies any wrongdoing, however he is fully cooperating with the police in their investigations."
