SPIN chats to Victoria Adeyinka
I caught up with Ireland's biggest TikToker Victoria Adeyinka this week for a chat about her new music.
Among other things, she spoke about her parents' reaction to her sudden success, being recognised out and about and much more.
Check out her latest single This Abandoned here:
Victoria joined TikTok over lockdown and has amassed over 15 million followers on the platform.
While promoting her new music, she told me about her parents' reaction to her sudden fame.
"I didn't even tell my parents I had TikTok until I got 10 million and they seen it in the newspaper!" She shared.

"They knew I was making videos and stuff but they didn't know like... what is she doing like?"
"They'd just be like, 'Awh she's making so much noise, whatever.'"
Victoria further elaborated, "They would always see me planning my content, but I don't think they understand it fully themselves 'cause neither do I."

Some of Victoria's most popular videos feature impressions of her mother, and I wanted to know how her mother feels about this.
The TikToker laughed, "She absolutely loves it. It's so funny because these people were coming into her work saying, 'Are you Victoria's mum?'"
"She was so gassed when she came home! She loves being in the videos as well."

Victoria said she often gets recognised out and about, so I asked how she dealt with the sudden fame.
She explained, "It was during the pandemic so I couldn't see everyone, I was just watching the numbers go up on my phone."
"Yeah, it wasn't when we were allowed to just doing anything we want."
