The Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony is taking place on the River Seine at 6.30pm and is due to last for more than three hours.

It will be broadcast live on RTÉ2 with coverage kicking off from 6pm - streaming will also be available on the RTÉ player.

Lady Gaga and Celine Dion are reportedly set to perform after being snapped staying in the same hotel, the Royal Monceau hotel.

The rapper is set to carry the Olympic torch and he will also be a special correspondent for American network NBC.

Paris 2024 will see the largest Irish team yet to travel to the Olympics, with 133 athletes competing across different categories of sport than ever before.

Some of Ireland’s top medal prospects include: sprinter Rhasidat Adeleke, boxing champion Kellie Harrington and gymnast Rhys McClenaghan who are all looking to bring home a gold medal in their sport.
