Report Revealed On Newcastle West Flooding

Residents in County Limerick will have to wait several months before finding out the total cost of the damage from last month's flooding.

An impact report into the flooding in Newcastle West says there needs to be further analysis to find out the exact level of damage and the cost of the clean-up.

It also puts the cause of the floods down to the fact that 10 per cent of the usual annual rainfall fell in the space of six hours, causing the River Arra to burst its banks.

The event has been described as a 1 in 650 year event.
